With all the media attention surrounding ISIS right now, it's no wonder that people are on high alert. Goa, India is in it's height of it's tourism season and Sunburn and Supersonic Festival are set to take place Decemeber 27-30th. The Business Standard has reported on an alleged “terror threat posed by extremist groups like the Islamic State” that will affect security at the festivals.
Goa's Tourism Minister has ordered increased security at each of the events including more metal detectors and police dogs to sniff out anything suspicious. Dilip Parulekar orders “we want the best security in view of the IS threat”. As of now, he has suspended the festivals' permissions until they comply with heightened security demands.
