New York's CID is a dope DJ and producer who's been on my map for a couple months now. His sultry chill house vibes are compelling and addicting, so when I had the chance to ask him some brief interview questions I immediately hopped on the opportunity. Check out his latest release and read our interview below that.
Favorite city you’ve ever played in?
San Francisco. Played their for the first time during the last Kaskade tour and the crowd was really special.
Who and what inspired you the most music-wise in your life?
What was it like to win a Grammy?
It really was an amazing experience. I was at a point in my career where I hadnt really stepped out on my own yet as an artist and it was definitely one of those moments that gave me the confidence I needed to know I could make music that people were connecting with.
What other artists do you like to play in your sets?
My sets almost always include something from Don Diablo who has just been absolutely on fire this year, and also Chris lake who has also beenreleasing some amazing music lately!
Let’s talk about your latest track “No!” What inspired it?
I did the idea for “No!” well over a year ago.. i think it was the same week I did “She wants the D.” I had gone through a few months of not feeling inspired in the studio and i just decided to stop overthinking and start having fun making music again. It really felt liberating to just do whatever I felt like and experiment a bit more.
What was your favorite moment from 2015? What do you hope for in 2016?
My favorite moment of 2015 was definitely joining Kaskade on his Automatic Tour. 2016 will definety be a year of building for me as an artist. I'm going to start playing more of my own shows and start playing some festivals.
Any collaborations in the near future?
I am focused on getting some solo original stuff done at the moment but theres definitely going to be a few surprise collabs down the road!
What projects are you currently working on?
I'm currently working on my follow up for “Love is Blind” on Big Beat.
As a producer, how do you balance your personal life/relationships?
I think the key to keeping a balance is knowing when and how to disconnect. It's so easy to get consumed with your career when you are always connected and checking emails. When you are spending time with someone you have to be in those moments 100% and never take those moments for granted.
How do you relax? Any hobbies? Exercise?
When I have time, I enjoy running. For me, relaxing is hang out with friends and family and having some good laughs.
Do you have any upcoming shows?
I'm currently supporting Galantis on their Louder Better Harder North American tour!
