Two and a half years ago Flume remixed Disclosure's ‘You & Me'. No one knew at the time that the remix was going to become one of the biggest hits in the history of dance music. The track was a flawless pairing of traditional club sounds with orchestral break downs that was unlike anything heard before. The track can still be heard being played out over dance floors to frat parties alike. In the last few days, Flume has been hinting that Disclosure will be returning the favor. Today we finally got the track that has been the obsession of dance music as a whole for the last week.
Disclosure has remixed Flume's single from his forthcoming LP, ‘Skin', ‘Never Be Like You'. The track was a beautiful combination of airy vocals by Kai, and Flume's signature future bass break downs. It was a true hit right from the start. It was flawless, but dance floor ready? Debatable. It was an awesome tune but not something that would necessarily be appropriate for the club. Disclosure saw that and ran with it. They mixed in their classic deep house sound and kept the integrity of the vocals, making for a tune that was ready for any dance floor from the festival grounds to the club. In my opinion while it is an awesome remix, it will not be changing the way to perceive dance music as Flume's edit of ‘You & Me' did. So Disclosure probably needs to throw a few more remixes Flume's way to repay the debt, something I can safely say I will have no problem with.
