Las Vegas is often blamed for starting the trend in granting $400,000 paychecks to superstar DJs per night. These notions have made it harder and harder for music festivals to book bigger name DJs due to the exorbitant booking fees.
On April 28th, Wynn Las Vegas opened its doors to its new nightclub ‘Intrigue,' but no world-famous DJs were announced. Sean Christie, COO of Wynn Las Vegas said “It is the opposite of a big DJ-driven club.”
Christie believes that “the DJ is no longer the most important part of the recipe.” Victor Drai also chimed in saying that “people are sick of the DJs in Vegas.” He goes on to say “it's ridiculous to have the same five or six guys, pay them a fortune and lose money. It will reach a point where DJs are totally irrelevant.”
