You know you've met a true trance follower if they listen to Johnny Yono. He's one of those artists whose work satisfies an elite palette for world class dance beats that demonstrate proficient and technical wizardry with undeniable substance. Johnny has never taken the easy road to making monstrous tunes and for the past few years he's poured gas on the fire of trance music, constantly pushing his sound to greater heights, creating massive yet proper trance masterworks, shown with the infallible, trifecta EP, Poison Whispers, and his emotional remix of “These Hands I Hold”.
Getting cozy with Armada‘s IHU imprint, “Hydrashock” is Johnny's follow up to last years “Highways of Valhalla“, a track that already set the bar incredibly high in terms of anthemic, hair raising energy. Creating a darker, more aggressive tone than Highways, Hydrashock pummels eardrums with its dense and heavy beats, decorated with plenty of pronounced fills and samples. The breakdown features less atmosphere but it's a seemless transition that maintains the track's intense pace while still building a great deal of anticipation and excitement. Attention to detail has always been one of Yono's strengths and you really need to listen closely to appreciate how complete this tune is. Johnny's no stranger to the bigroom trance style but Hydrashock strikes the balance between new and old elements in triumphant fashion and stands as one of his most impressive tunes to date.
