Making their debut on Big Beat Records Swedish musician/producer Sailor & I and Canadian artist Eekkoo (pronounced “echo”) unveil their emotional two track EP LETTERS out today. Having never met in person Eekkoo and Sailor & I's story is an impressive one based on the power of the internet.
With two completely different backgrounds and geographic locations the pair might have never met without the internet. Eekkoo is a sound engineer and sound design teacher from Montreal, and Sailor & I is an accomplished singer/songwriter from Stockholm. Featuring two deep cuts “Letters (Capital)” and “Letters (lower case)”, the LETTERS EP was born as an international project, all done over email as the pair bounced the records back and forth. The duo demonstrate their ability to produce mind-bending electronic music via doses of club focused melodies, techno drum patterns, and Balearic beats, all which will sweep listeners into a hypnotic state of dance and relaxation.
Eekkoo remarks, “When I first worked with Sailor & I, he was my guest. He was the feature I was looking for that specific project. Hard hitting, electronic, heavy. This time it's different, we wanted to focus on his own particular sound spectrum. Something a bit lighter, colourful and lyrical.”
Although an unlikely collaboration, the partnership marks a landmark moment in the world of underground dance music. The EP is a step deeper into the underground, while still maintaining the core of Big Beat's mission to highlight and support incredible electronic music from forward-thinking artists.
