What if, for one night, we were able to leave our phones in our pockets and enjoy the music being played around us? It may seem like a dream for many DJs today, but the San Francisco-based producer Lane 8, is making this become a reality at the Mezzanine with his “phone-free” rule.
The event staff did not confiscate any cameras/phones during the show, but they did place small pieces of black tape of the front and back cameras of every device coming in. This forced the attendees of the event to actually listen to the experience in front of them, instead of staring at their screen the entire time.
What do you think of this concept? Do you feel more DJs should take on this phone ban ruling?
