Diplo announced on Tuesday that the massive hit with vocals from Justin Bieber and MØ, “Cold Water” will be released in an “Indian version” for Diwali. Diwali, the “festival of lights” is an ancient Hindu festival in India that symbolizes the victory of good over evil. It takes place during the fall and autumn depending on which hemisphere it is celebrated in. The announcement was made by Diplo via Twitter.
“Cold Water” saw massive success over the summer and is the chart-topping follow up to “Lean on”, 2015’s Summer hit and Major Lazer‘s introduction to the world. The “Indian version” will be a collaborative project with Indian singer and Composer Anirudh Ravichander, who is known for the viral YouTube hit, “Why This Kolaveri Di”.
Although Diplo did not mention an official release for the Indian rendition in the tweet, Diwali is on October 30th this year, so we can expect it sometime before or on that day.
The original which reached no. 1 on Billboards' pop song radio airplay chart this month graced our speakers for the first time on July 21st. Check out the recently released dance Music Video below.
