MAKO is getting ready for the release of their debut album in just over three weeks on Ultra. If you somehow haven't heard yet it will be called ‘HOURGLASS‘. In honor of their freshman effort hitting the shelves the genre bending duo have released a few reworks of their single, ‘Wish You Back'.
It is reported that HOURGLASS will not be exactly what fans might expect. MAKO has shifted away from a pure EDM aesthetic with their debut LP, and journeyed into the realms of pop, indie and alternative. In a demonstration of their range, the guys dropped a beautiful and powerful acoustic edit of their hit, ‘Wish You Back'.
This will go alongside the release of The Him's remix of the track which dropped last week in collaboration with the launch of their pre-order campaign for HOURGLASS. The remix gives the track new life and makes it appropriate for dance floors of all sizes. It is a stellar introduction for an album which many believe will define MAKO as a musical powerhouse across many genres. Check out The Him's remix below, and check out the lyrics to ‘Wish You Back'. Actually reading them might just give you a new respect for what the song talks about.
Wish You Back
I get so deep in the bottle
that I can’t swim back out
I swear I meant to call you
If I could get back up
At 5 o’clock my shadow empties a grave
I hope you can forgive
That I let slip 9 hundred chances to say
I love you
Cause I take one step forward
I take two steps back
I keep reaching out for ya
but you already left
and I don’t know where we fell off track
but if I had one wish
I’d wish you back
Do you remember
Cause I just can’t forget
If I could see you smile like that again
It’d mean everything
And I know that I lost you out in the rain
I hope you can forgive
that I let slip 9 hundred chances to say
I love you
Cause I take one step forward
I take two steps back
I keep reaching out for ya
but you already left
and I don’t know where we fell off track
but if I had one wish
I’d wish you back
