Au5 has released Freefall, a collaborative project between Au5 and vocalist Cristina Soto, on Gravitas Recordings. The four track EP covers a multitude of genres showcasing the talent of Au5 without overlooking the aptitude of Soto's delightful vocals. The two combined to put together one fantastic EP.
Freefall, the title track on the EP, starts off with delicate bells that construct a tranquil environment. The songs energy builds when the drums enter with a rolling beat mixed with a howling guitar that is the precursor to the explosion of synths that follow. Au5 unleashes his signature growls creating an electro anthem.
Shock Diamond is a magnificent blend of drum and bass and mid-tempo. This song twists and turns down different paths held together by the astounding vocals Cristina Soto laid down. This song ends in glorious dnb fashion that breaks apart into a wonderful piano outro.
Emergence is a powerhouse of a track that is the definition of melodic dubstep. With dramatic wobbles and powerful bass, Emergence is an example of why Au5 is one of the top producers out there.
Emergence Au5 remix closes out Freefall with a relaxed more intimate version of Emergence; giving the track a more atmospheric feel. Cristina’s vocals become somewhat celestial just before the song ramps up to close out this gem of an EP.
