Calvin Harris has had an absolutely incredible year. The producer has been crowned the highest grossing dance music act according to Forbes, has had countless chart topping pop singles, AND became the third artist in Spotify history to have a song reach 1 billion streams. He can now add a nomination for artist of the year from the BBC to his accolades, but he is up against some serious competition for the crown.
The other nominees for the award include: the late, great David Bowie, Coldplay, Jess Glynne, and of course Adele. The BBC Music Awards will take place next Monday, December 12th. Naturally the event will be held in London. A nomination at these awards is quite an honor as only three categories exist. The others are Radio 1 Live Lounge Performance of the Year, and Radio 2's Album of the Year.
As much as we hope Calvin can take the victory and represent the dance music community as a whole, whoever ends up winning this year's award will definitely deserve it. Stay tuned to EDM Sauce to see exactly who wins next week. Check out all the performances and nominees here!
