The countdown to The Grammy’s are on with the nominations being announced for the 59th annual edition. While the General field nominations are unsurprisingly filled with the big-name nominations from Justin Bieber, Adele, Drake and Beyonce, it’s the Dance/Electronic music category that’s getting us all excited. Australian electronic pioneer Flume leads the charge with both ‘Best Dance Recording’ and ‘Best Electronic/Dance Album’ nominations, however he’ll be up against the likes of Tycho, Bob Moses, breakout artists Sofi Tukker and The Chainsmokers who have well and truly dominated 2016 with their dance-pop blend. The Chainsmokers will be capping off a massive year with three nominations including ‘Best Pop Duo/Group Performance’, ‘Best Dance Recording’ and the rather surprising ‘Best New Artist’.
Other nominations include eclectic UK producer Jamie xx who’s also up for nomination for the ‘Best Music Video’ award for ‘Gosh’, whilst Steve Aoki’s Netflix special ‘I’ll Sleep When I’m Dead’ is up for a ‘Best Music Film’ award.
Check out the nominations below, or check the full list over at Billboard.
