Namedropping Airwave doesn't merely identify one as a true trance fanatic but a longtime lover of dance music. The man from Brussels has been sharing tunes with the world for the last two decades and despite a few short phases with harder genres, he's has largely stayed devoted to the progressive sound. Last years ambitious and widely acclaimed “Quest For Beauty” is no better example of Airwave's cinematic, emotional style, and to kick off 2017 proper, he's returned to his longtime home at Bonzai Progressive to give us “Amber Sky”.
Maintaining ambition and grandiosity, “Amber Sky” lures the listener in with its dark, almost sinister sounding intro, but the swelling pads, vocals, and mystical spirit brighten up the mood, eventually landing in the trance sweet spot of heavenly ambiance and symphonic, uplifting energy. The remixes offer slight variations to this journey, Jamie Baggot's version integrating the psy feels and Basil O'Glue's remix doubles down on the dept and mysticism, creating a borderline deep techno tune. All in all, the beauty is abundant and Airwave shows that he's acquired no dust over the years with another strong edition of progressive mastery.
