Croatia seems to slowly be becoming the hub of electronic music in Europe. While many may read that statement and scoff at the thought of The Netherlands or the UK not being the center of attention, with a little research they may be surprised. Ultra Europe has grown exponentially over the years and has become a legitimate week long celebration of dance music akin to America's WMC. Now in addition to the Ultra celebration, Croatia has come out swinging with the Croatia Winter Music Festival and wow does it sound incredible.
This was the inaugural year for the festival which took place from New Year's Eve until the 6th of January. While it was only the first installment of the event over 25 thousand people from 60 different countries attended the week long event. Of course the music was top notch with performances ranging from Armin Van Buuren, Sander Van Doorn and Headhunterz to name just a few. Armin actually rang in the new year in style with a live steam from Croatia that garnered well over half a million viewers.
The festival also included a gaming competition where some of the most skilled professionals competed for dominance and $15,000 in games including Hearthstone, League of Legends, Overwatch and of course FIFA 17. The first year looked like it will be hard to top, so I am guessing at this point you are interesting in getting involved for the second round at the end of 2017…well do not worry – the first set of performers for the second installment will be announced in March.
