Adam Beyer‘s label, Drumcode, just released a banging four track EP; “DC168“, that is sure to sweep tech DJ's sets across the country. Timmo, the producer of the EP, is native to Bulgaria and had been composing music since he was 14. He has been supported by the likes of Richie Hawtin and Dubfire but also mixed by big names like Tiësto and Above & Beyond.
The EP includes four techno tracks, each about seven minutes, titled ‘System‘, ‘Intensify‘, ‘The Maze‘ and ‘Together‘. Each with their own very unique sound that makes you wish you were transported into a dark night club with thousands of laser beams.
Personally, my favorite track from this short EP is ‘Intensify'. The song starts off with your typical techno hard bass that will serve as a constant through the whole track. Timmo sprinkles in a mysterious synth riff throughout the song that is used to pivot the track from build to build. After each riff varying build are added, your classic claps, deep bass melodies etc. What makes this track special though is Timmo's talent for layering the plethora of sound elements in the song. All of the transitions are smooth, the drops are climatic and thump harder and harder with each one. This track is the perfect amount of mysterious and melodic that makes me remember why I love this genre so much.
