Late last night Porter Robinson took to Twitter for two very Kanye-esque tweets. Though troubling, these tweets may not be a cause for alarm that some have felt. See the tweets below and “let me explain…”
As time passes — for every artist — old songs are forgotten to make room for the new. There's classics that fit, but not all last and it seems to me, that Porter looks to move on from some of the originals that first began his career. It's natural for an artist to make this decision.
Let's return to the Kanye West comparison. “Graduation” may have been one of the best albums he will ever release, but he doesn't perform the album in its entirety live anymore. Tracks such as Porter's favorite “The Glory” have likely not been performed live in the past decade. It happens. It's natural.
I cannot know for sure what Porter means by “canon” or why he did not include so many songs, but he has seen resounding support from fans and took to Snapchat today to elaborate on his current feelings. See Porter's snaps below and let us know what you think because these are the songs he's “proud of” after all.
