A new album entitled Structures from Dallas ambient/IDM artist Gentoo, the brainchild of electronic producer and multi-instrumentalist Damon Kelly. On the new album Structures, Kelly used live drums, guitar, and bass creating a rich, and enchanting mixture. Structures still embrace Gentoo’s trademark minimalism, slow arching waveforms, and transcendental vocals that invite us to explore our own perceived universe. When you listen to his style you immediately transcend your soul and body into a blissful world of melodic house music. Each track of the album each has its own style and sound of house music, creating a blissful album to soothe you. The track Oslo is both uplifting and moving, hitting your body to the center core of your soul creating the perfectly balanced song to get through whatever life throws at you.
With a background in photography and literature, Damon Kelly spends a good deal of time exploring the way we interact with the physical space in our lives and finding places where we can shield ourselves from the sonic clutter of living in a society of sensory overload.
“Ethereal as Arovane, Gentoo‘s work is also of the earth.” – XLR8R
