Okay this is technically not EDM news but look…we need to talk about it. CeeLo Green went full mid 2000’s Tom Cruise at the Grammy’s and by that we mean he went absolutely insane. He showed up decked out in gold face paint, some head gear and an all gold smock of some sort. We, like the rest of the internet took the opportunity to make some great memes around what could be considered a psychotic break.
CeeLo also exhibited erratic behavior. Since most people of his status have a handler of sorts who would not let him appear at an event like The Grammy’s when he is mentally unstable, we have to assume it was an obvious act for some great reason. Lucky for us and in turn for you, Complex’s Pigeons and Planes imprint reached out to CeeLo’s staff about what the hell was going on. They actually got a response and it solves nothing and just makes everything more bizarre.
CeeLo released that he had an alter ego in the first week of February named Gnarly Davidson – and apparently that was not CeeLo but in fact Gnarly on the red carpet. His (Their?) management responded to the request for comment with this…
“That was Gnarly Davidson on the Grammy red carpet. I can absolutely get a statement. Did you want from Gnarly or from CeeLo?”
Pigeons and Planes took the smart route and asked for a comment from both CeeLo as well as Gnarly and got this in return –
Gnarly Davidson: “I told you this would happen and I did it. Fuck you, CeeLo Green. I mean fuck me, I’m famous.”
CeeLo: “When I saw him arrive on the Harley, my heart skipped a beat. Seriously, I don’t know if I can stop him now.”
Look CeeLo does not qualify as EDM at this point so we probably will not continue to pursue this story if it continues to develop. That being said we did totally reach out to Gnarly for an interview, because sometimes when you see a fire there is always a part of you that wants to dump gasoline on it. So hey…we will keep you updated if that interview ever comes to fruition. CeeLo used to be half of the duo Gnarls Barkley so maybe it has something to do with that? For now check out Gnarly’s first music video below:
