One thing we love to see in electronic music is an artist stepping outside of their comfort zone in order to create pieces of music that truly show off their artistic ability and their confidence to trust their instincts as a musician. It truly is a daunting task as, especially in electronic music, fans seem to become easily angered by an artist not sticking to “what they are good at”. We don't necessarily see it that way, but to each their own. With yesterday being Valentine's Day love was in the air, and electronic fans got a special treat from an artist who has showed their ability to create different styles of music successfully. After his massive hit “Thief”, we were extremely please to see Ookay opening himself up to the lighter, more melodic side of trap music once again.
“Stay Forever” dropped yesterday, and surprised fans in the most positive way possible. With many citing a heavy influence from what sounds like Porter Robinson, the track takes listeners into a journey through an 8-bit world where a love story is front and center. Utilizing the extremely recognizable drums that Ookay has perfected over the last few years of his career, the percussion is accompanied by a catchy synth/vocal combination highlighting the lyrics “No matter what it takes, I want you to stay forever”. This is truly an anthem for the ages and we can see fans from all corners of the electronic world falling in love with this tune. Take a listen below and don't forget to belt the lyrics to all your loved ones every day of the year, not just Valentine's Day.
