Reports from The Hollywood Reporter divulged details that a sequel to Tron: Legacy is in very early pre-production development. This basically means they've thought about it but haven't done anything to begin production on the movie.
Days before these reports the director of Tron: Legacy, Joseph Kosinski sat down with collider for a Q&A following an IMAX screening of Legacy. Verge reported, “He noted that the long-gestating Tron 3 was in ‘cryogenic freeze,’ but that it wasn’t dead, just ‘just sitting for the right time to move forward with it.'”
In 2015, a version of the movie was pulled after it struggled to stay in production, but it seems there is still some hope for a reboot. Reboot definitely being the correct word as the reports from The Hollywood Reporter said, the movie would be “built out of the source code of the deleted Tron 3 script,” with Leto playing a character from that screenplay named Ares.
The question now warranted is, does this mean an all new Daft Punk score?
