Brunch-In the City starts on March 12th with a house regular headliner, Maceo Plex, one of the today's most acclaimed producers currently working on a new album titled Solar – named after his son—, the follow-up to theJourney to Solar EP released in 2016. He will be accompanied by Joy Orbison's garage-house, a sound combining elements of house, two- step, jungle, techno and dubstep that has gained momentum since the release of his first single “Hyph Mngo” in 2009.
On March 26th will be the duet Mind Against, a musical society that draws on the roots of house and techno. Alessandro and Federico Fognini will close the day with their usual psychedelic and 80's house beats. With also a live performance from Max Cooper. The artist is known for his multi-talented experiences created through emotional experimentation on the dancefloor, artistic sound design and musical inspirations. Kiasmos, the duo formed by Ólafur Arnalds and Janus Rasmussen, will just be represented by the second one as long as it will be a DJ set. As the spearhead of 21st century's experimental electronics and usual live performers, it is also interesting to see the DJing.
April 4th, Brunch-In the City will open with a Kompakt showcase. First off is the b2b between label boss Michael Mayer and Patrice Bäumel. Mayer remains one of Germany's leading celebrities in dance music. Bäumel, on the other hand, infuses his DJ sets with a high energy and sense of adventure, creating a sound that satisfies both mind and body. He calls it “techno music for adults”. The Field, aka Axel Willner, will open for them. In 2003, Willner used Buzz, music software still common today, to make ambient techno. Matías Aguayo's percussion will come before them. The celebrated Cómeme label takes advantage of his trips to add an international touch to his music. Fango, a perfectionist obsessed with mixing ‘bass drums‘, recordings and sample percussion will open the day.
On April 23th Brunch-In the City will celebrate Sant Jordi with the Brooklyn-based duo Bedouin. Tamer Malki and Rami Abousabe fuse electronics with the Middle East sounds, resulting in the much acclaimed ‘desert sound'. El Guincho, who has just released his third album Hiperasia, will perform before them.
In May Brunch-In the City opens on Sunday 14th with an epic showcase. The label's boss, Jennifer Cardini, with a b2b set with Roman Flügel. After more than a decade dedicated to building a reputation in Paris' clubs, Cardini has become one of the most relevant international artists. Flügel – active since the early 1990s – is a true artist that combines endless styles in his sessions, from ambient to house.
May 28th will open with Black Coffee. His huge rise has placed him among the masters of deep house and in the headlines of some of the world's best festivals. His latest EP The Journey Continues confirms his position. Jeremy Underground, a passionate vinyl collector will perform before him. A rare gem he has become one of the today's most acclaimed DJs without producing music. The Barcelona-based collective MK Ultra formed by Render, Veski, and Vertical will open the day with a six-hand b2b session.
Brunch-In the City will close the season on June 11th with luxury guest Motor City Drum Ensemble. Danilo Plessow's essential Raw Cuts and masterful disco and house lessons have turned him into the standard transporter of soulful dance music. Peggy Gou will perform before him with music inspired by J Dilla, Patrick Cowley, Yellow Magic Orchestra and Dj Sotofett, among others. Born in South Korea and a Berlin DJ resident, she released her first EP in 2016 on Radio Slave's label Rekids. Rubén González, the producer behind the Ruzztic project, will open for these heavyweights.
