A few days ago, Deadbeats unearthed its most recent gem, a funky, albeit mellow, musical ode by Pham and Sober Rob, comprised of tasteful sounds and stylish compositions. “Alibi (feat. Madi)” tells an earnest tale of romantic infatuation by way of groovy, flourishing melodies. Its top-tier production contains instrumentation reminiscent of golden-era west-coast hip-hop; with fat, saw-shaped legato bass, harmonious vocal oohs, and vibrant Rhodes piano licks. Atop a well-paced drum-track and distinct melodic rhythms, Madi’s brilliantly executed vocal performance adds layers of emotional depth. “Alibi” is an outstanding team effort by three nonpareil artists, who each contribute elements of their individuality to gratify each of their respective fanbases.
