Calling all burners, beat makers, hoop girls, and steampunk scientists! This year, the fun and dusty Boogaloo Festival (April 28th – 30th) is going to be wackier that ever. Tucked away in Oak Canyon Park outside Los Angeles, Boogaloo Art and Car Music Festival is the alternative to alternative festivals. Boogaloo attracts humans of all types, with bangin' music, intimate connections, and weird-as-shit art. Take a look at last year's video, and you'll see what I mean:
Boogaloo is founded by The Dirty Beetles, who call themselves “Burning Man Outsiders”. They tout being the weirdest, loudest, and funkiest bugs on The Playa. If you dig house, techno, funk, and bass music, then you're in luck. Along with Boogaloo's fascinating art and style comes premier music, with headliners Vanilla Ace, The Funk Hunters, DJ Dan, and a back to back set with Z-Trip and A. Skills. Furthermore, Mark Farina will be performing one of his infamous mushroom jazz sets. You can see a full line-up below as well as here on the official Boogaloo website.
We here at EDM Sauce know that festival season can be tough on your wallet, and sometimes you need a miracle to make it all happen. That's why we're proud to announce Boogaloo 2017 and SUBPAC's Beat Contest! First of all, if you don't know what a SUBPAC is, get with it! It's a pulsing vest that allows you to feel music on an extraordinary level, appropriate for beat makers, VR gamers, and those that are hard of hearing. First place winner gets two tickets to Boogaloo and a custom SUBPAC vest! Check out the sample pack here on Soundcloud and here on Hypeddit. The submission window is from now to April 17th, so get those fingers flying and start making something sick!
Here's a quick overview of the rules, taken right from Boogaloo themselves:
Step 1 – Upload track to Soundcloud, disable downloads, hashtag you mix #boogaloobeat
Step 2 – Send a message to Boogaloo's SC page with link to your track.
Step 3 – Add www.boogaloofestival.com to the description of you track
Step 4 – Share your track with friends!
- Must contain the word Boogaloo from one of the samples in the pack.
- Must be under 7 minutes long
- Top 10 tracks with most <3 ( likes) will be selected. Our Boogaloo Crew judges will select the winner and runner up.
- Winner will be announced April 19th
GRAND PRIZE – Custom Boogaloo Subpac, and 2 tickets to Boogaloo 2017
