If you have been on the internet in any way the last few days there is no doubt that you have seen the controversy surrounding the new Kendall Jenner Pepsi commercial. It got a lot of people understandably upset including Martin Luther King's family. That is usually a good indicator of when you know that you have definitely f*cked up. In the previous discussed commercial…Kendall defuses a tense protest situation by handing a cop a Pepsi.
Yeah making light of the serious issue occurring between police, and minorities in America was just a bizarrely terrible idea for the second most popular beverage company. I have no idea who looked at this and didn't find an issue with it, but they definitely do not have a Job anymore.
Pepsi Messed Up in More than One Way
Anyway turns our that this hugely problematic ad has another huge issue with it. It isn't even original. They ripped off The Chemical Brother's music video for ‘Out of Control' which actress Rosario Dawson noticed pretty quickly. The actress also mentioned that Pepsi cleared missed the point of the original. In fact they actually went ahead and made a commercial that the music video was pointing out how ridiculous it would be if someone were to actually make said commercial. Pepsi has since pulled the ad.
Eerily reminiscent of Chemical Brothers"Out Of Control"vid we shot in Mexico City ~15 yrs ago sadly minus the point: https://t.co/LTI9mJ7zjS https://t.co/DqBjKdQylS
