Up and coming future bass producers Blvk Sheep and Dimebag recently dropped their energetic rendition of Mansionz single ‘stfu‘. Mansionz is a relativley new alternative hip-hop duo comprised of Mike Posner (best known for summer anthem ‘I Took a Pill in Ibiza') and Matthew Musto aka blackbear who has helped produce and write singles for artists such as Justin Bieber and G Eazy. The duo released their title album; Mansionz at the end of March and since then, a slew of remixes, flips and edits have been released by artists of all genres.
Blvk Sheep first broke into the scene back in 2015 after winning a contest for his remix of Boombox Cartel‘s and Nghtmre‘s track ‘Aftershock‘. Since then he has released on Fools Gold and Quality Gold Records while playing at venues as big as Webster and Soundgarden Hall (RIP). Blvk Sheep collabed with another up and commer in the future bass / experimental trap scene, Philly native Dimebag. At only 17, Dimebag has already released a number of remixes and collabs with artists such as Pasdat and has even been played out by DJ Snake at Ultra in 2016 and 2017.
This remix, in particular, stood out to us for its powerful brass/bass line that redefines the song as a powerful future bass track. The remix starts off similar to the original, with a slower singular guitar melody. Though as soon as the vocals are introduced, that powerful brass/bass line is mastered in. The harmonious bass adds that signature element of future bass that we love so much. The first build coincides perfectly with the repetitive plea to “quit hitting my phone up” and drags us right into the drop. This drop is so powerful, highlighting that complimentary bass line. Then, in line with the future genre, that classic high pitched distorted vocal sings out the chorus and mantra “stfu right now and let me breath”. Which, honestly, who can't relate to at one time or another.
