The producer from Kentucky with a European sound, Amtrac, has a new EP out. Titled True Value, the EP contains four songs: “Accessorize,” “Some Of Them,” “IDKILY,” and “Escalator.” It is available on his new label, Openers.
Amtrac has been playing “Accessorize” in his sets lately, most notably at Coachella. Staying true to his style, retro sounds compliment modern ones. Techno bass and synths blend perfectly with bongo featured percussion. The energy never gets too high, but that is okay for a track like this. It maintains a dancey feel to keep the listener interested. The breakdown disrupts the monotony by creating a happier vibe, and then going back down to a darker atmosphere. “Accessorize” is a perfect mid set bouncer for DJs.
The second song on the EP “Some Of Them” features the voice of Meli. Amtrac stays in the same spectrum with the instrumentals as “Accessorize,” but Meli’s vocals add another dimension. They are raw and rough, but honest. The techno inspired beat takes a backseat to them, and it works. “Some Of Them” is an Amtrac song, but she truly owns it.
