It is finally happening. 6 days ago, a playlist appeared on Odesza’s Spotify channel with a morse code sequence that translated to “4/25.” Odesza officially confirmed yesterday that 4/25 means new music, and today is 4/25, and guess what that means, new music. Odeza debuted the new track “Line Of Sight” (feat. WYNNE & Mansionair) on the radio this morning and quickly added the song to both Apple Music and Spotify.
Odesza's critically acclaimed album In Return was released in 2014, was one of the biggest EDM albums of the year, and maybe of all time. Unfortunately, this was the first time Odesza has actually released new music since the 2014 album. Harrison revealed in his interview that they are hard at work on a new album but do not have a release date. Only time will tell at this point!
Odesza also announced News of a headlining spot at Bumbershoot Music Festival alongside Flume and Lorde. Clay and Harrison in their respective interviews also said that some giant collaborations were in the works, but no specific details could be released. You can here the entire KEXP interview, song included through this link!
Fan reactions have been mixed so far. While everyone can agree the section around 51 seconds in is classic Odesza…the song has been equated to The Chainsmokers for male vocals with a future bass drop. Personally we think this is a beautiful track and very clean production. Fans should also not despair as many artists release the most pop oriented track as an initial single since it appeals to the greatest common denominator. We are excited to hear more from Odesza.
