Hi, what are you looking for?

The Brand New Hybrid Trap EP That Is Straight Fire

There's this little thing called hybrid trap, and when done correctly, it tends to be something we call a ‘banger.' Seemingly a hybrid mix of dubstep and trap, it's a genre of music that pretty much all bass lovers gravitate to.

Well good news, we've come across some brand new stuff from an up-and-comer you should already be watching that'll make your ears perk up quite nicely. California-native, SCALEY dropped his first EP, HEAT and frankly, it's a must-listen.

The four-song collection starts off with the album-titled track “HEAT,” and is probably the most similar to some of his other stuff we've heard. Lots of bass, lots of synth. It definitely draws you in to listen to the rest of the album. Check out the official music video below.

“POP” is full of stabbing synth and heavy-handed bass that's perfect for anyone looking to do a little head banging. The third track “BITE” picks up the pace a little bit and seems to be a bit house influenced, making it the right kind of bass-house track. The final song on the EP, “TOTW” is a collaboration between SCALEY & Stepchylde Tha Pheonix and it's straight fire. The first build-up sets you up and then delivers an intensely awesome drop that has you wanting more, so you can't help but listen to the rest of the song, as well as the whole EP. Listen on Soundcloud below or download your very own copy here.

SCALEY has been making music as early as five years old when he learned to play the piano. After spending his younger years engrained in Death Metal and Metalcore, he discovered electronic music his freshman year of college and has been producing ever sense. He claims Deadmau5 & Kaskade drew him in to EDM, but once he heard RL Grime's “Mercy” remix he's been hooked on trap music ever since.

Since falling in love with trap music, he's taken the pledge to make “crazy bangers that make you loose your mind.” And when asked what inspired this album, he'll tell you “HEAT is what I call “Vintage Trap.” It's an avant-garde approach to electronic music, representing the cyclical nature of human history and behavior. The EP as a whole was made to appreciate all the diversity I have encountered throughout living and making music in San Diego.”

So if you're like us, and want to hear more from this trap producer, you can find him on Soundcloud & SCALEYMADE.com. Also for all the San Diego fans out there, be sure to check him out on May 11 as an opener for Sikdope.
