Claude VonStroke is no stranger to the EDM scene, but Barclay Crenshaw might be a name you haven't heard. The producer has been releasing deep and spacey house hits since 2005 under his seemingly German pseudonym. However, after releasing single “Sleepy Kids” last October, Barclay has come back once more with a full self-titled album under his birth name.
The 10-track album is an exquisitely sublime journey that takes listeners on the artist's mysterious but impeccable foray into hip-hop. From the dancehall hit “The Real X-Files” featuring Lady Chann, to the relaxing dub vibes of “My Dog Knows The Truth” featuring Mr. Carmack, the album is as captivating as an alien encounter.
What's just as amazing as Barclay's album is the imagery and mystique surrounding it. A few clicks into his website and you're transported to an alien portal of internet trash. While some links just take you to the artists music, some transport you to artful internet rabbit holes reminiscent of 90's shock value websites. While digging, I found occult-ish strings of numerology, photoshopped images of Mao, and a whole lot of animated nonsense.
We've always know Claude VonStroke to be a little bit of a weirdo, but this endeavor takes it to a new level. If you're the type of person who “wants to believe”, take a listen below!'
