Dada Life, the blockbuster Swedish dance DJ-duo have just announced details for The Dada Land Compound at Electric Zoo: The 6th Boro, to take place on the opening Friday Sept. 1st of the 9th edition of New York City’s very own world-class electronic music festival happening over Labor Day Weekend. Joining Dada Life at the Dada Land Compound will be Don Diablo, Martin Solveig, Grey, Bad Royale & Wingtip, an extremely solid line-up to accompany Dada Life on their 1st festival stage take-over.
Some of the planned specialty activities for the Dada Land Compound include scavenger hunts, banana basketball, a Dada Land tattoo station, pillow fights, massive lasers, a photo booth and more. There will even be Dada Land immigration officers checking people in! We fully expect one of the most epic party experiences to ever grace Electric Zoo and I for one, can not wait to experience it. Below I got a chance to ask Olle from Dada Life a few questions on their 1st ever festival stage takeover. They also graced us with a 20 song playlist to get you hyped all summer in anticipation of Dada Land Compound at Electric Zoo!
Interview w/ Olle From Dada Life
Dada Land Compound is coming to Electric Zoo! It has to be an honor to have your own stage at one of the biggest festivals in the United States, what made you guys decide to do this in NYC at the Zoo?
“It's such an amazing festival in such a beautiful setting. We promised to make it ugly but they still said yes! Now that's amazing!”
Could you give us a quick explanation of what Dada Land is, and what it means to you guys?
“It's a place where you can do what you want to do and be whoever you want to be. That's more important than ever considering the times we're living in. It's a nation, but as for now without a proper territory. That's why we take over venues (and now a festival stage!) all over the world and declare them free. We also have serious plans on getting our own land in the future.”
You guys are known to always have extremely interactive shows, events, stages, etc. What kind of crazy stuff do we have in store for the Dada Life Compound at Electric Zoo?
“Extra everything! Pillow Fights, Lasers, our Dada Land Ambassadors, lots of fun games and activities throughout the day.. not just when we're playing either…. You know the feeling when you're putting peanut butter on butter? Add cream to that.”
The Friday lineup is out, and the Dada Land Compound Stage is LOADED. How do you feel about the artists you got going on the stage Friday?
“We always try to get a diverse lineup. If you're going to step into another world, another nation, for the night we want to give you as much music as possible!”
With you headlining the stage, do you have anything special in store for your set?
“We always plan a lot of special stuff… and as this is our first Dada Land stage we're going to go BIG! Good thing is when we start the show all kinds of chaos just sort of… starts. Usually we're as surprised as the audience!”
