The Chainsmokers performed their crossover track ‘Last Day Alive' with Florida Georgia Line at the CMT Awards tonight. It was the first time an electronic music artist has ever performed at the country music based award show. The lines of country and EDM have been blurred for quite some time now. Whether it be Pretty Lights' intoxicating remix of John Denver's ‘Country Roads', or Avicii‘s mega hit, ‘Wake Me Up', there has been a clear trend of cross over between the two genres.
The Chainsmokers At The CMA's
The Chainsmokers have continued the tradition of country cross overs with their collaboration with Florida Georgia Line off their debut album, ‘Memories: Do Not Open'. While ‘Last Day Alive' did not receive a ton of critical acclaim from the dance music community, it has done quite well in the mainstream country market. Seeing the guys perform at the CMT's was definitely an interesting experience. The crowd no doubt loved it though. Check out the full video below.
