This past weekend, Marc Kinchen aka MK took the decks at Shimanski, the newly named Brooklyn nightclub that took over the Verboten space after it was forced to shut it's doors last year.
It was my first time returning to the club since then. There were still the same layout issues, but that wasn't stopping this crowd from dancing into the night to some classic MK. Marc had Sascha Robotti open up the night, who ended up playing into the morning. Sascha warmed up the crowd properly with nice techfunk.
Marc opened up strong around 2am with “Oh Woman Oh Man (MK Remix),” and then dropping “Piece of Me” shortly after. The crowd was going strong, with no signs of letting up or going home anytime soon. In typical Brooklyn fashion, a dance circle broke out when bangers like “My Love 4 U” and Jodeci's “Freek'n You (MK Dub mix)” came on.
At this point, it's past 3am and MK is dropping hit after hit. Dancing until I couldn't dance anymore, it was worth getting home when the sun was coming up.
If you're into funky house and techno, you don't want to miss out next time MK is in your area.
