Even though his album was released just last Thursday night (June 29), Jay-Z's LP has already been certified platinum. On Wednesday, July 5, the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) awarded Jay-Z (pictured below) the platinum record alongside RIAA Chairman and CEO, Cary Sherman. “Props to JAY, he's done it again!” said Sherman in a statement. “Another Platinum album adds to an already iconic career.”
With the new certified Platinum album, this makes Hov's 13th platinum album plaque, more than any other artist in RIAA's history.
4:44 was released for pre-existing TIDAL and Sprint users and since then it's been made available for a free download. The album has yet to be released on iTunes and Apple Music, but is expected to drop later this week.
