Spaceman is probably my favorite song of all-time. Thought I'd get this out there. Mainly because every time a new Hardwell song comes out, my heart boils with aspirations of being stolen as it had been on that cold January 2012 night when Spaceman first tingled my senses. Unfortunately, I don't think that any song will ever captivate me like that again. That's not to cut Maddix and Hardwell short on the morning of the release to their Big-Room banger “Smash This Beat”.
The track is a vintage Dutch slay fest. The Revealed duo went complete chicken bacon ranch on this. I'm talking subway footlong, toasted, extra cheese, extra meat, chipotle southwest sauce with the motherland of jalapeños . It opens up with a smooth and hard baseline which continues on throughout the song. The bass rises into a more sophisticated build to which the vocals join in making listeners aware that they are going to “Smash This Beat”. Once that drops, we are welcomed into a vintage Big-Room drop that has me jumping in bed. I don't know how I'm doing it, but I'm literally laying here laying down and jumping. It's like a backwards, in place, worm. The best part, after each drop, the following build differentiates from the prior. After the first drop, the duo take us to a deeper, Frankenstein-ish build (if you will) which ultimately transcends into the drop. It's another classic for Hardwell and a song that will bolster Maddix's resume for surely.
All in all, the track is as I said, an instant classic. Hardball and Maddix done showed up for another Big-Room banger with Festival replay value. This track will be creeping into sets everywhere for many, many years-to-come. Peep “Smash This Beat” below and get you Friday going the right way.
