This is an interesting little piece of tech news that is worth hearing about and then freaking out thoroughly. Facebook recently had to shut down it's artificial intelligence program after it created an entirely new language that humans could not understand in a matter of hours. The system was built to be able to learn from interaction and not need human assistance in obtaining knowledge.
Developing Artificial Knowledge At Hyper Speed
The Matrix warned us pretty thoroughly that AI and robots could become seriously dangerous when they reach a point of being able to surpass human intelligence. While we are still quite a bit away from having to block out the sun to destroy their solar energy power units, this is an relatively shocking development in the world of AI.
We have noted in the past that artificial intelligence was being developed to produce music with some decent results. Now we have to take a long look at the implications of what these new powerful artificial intelligence networks might be capable of. Why did the AI develop a new language which humans could not decipher? We have no idea…let's just hope it doesn't have to do with taking over humanity or making sure Dimitri Vegas and Like Mike once again win the DJ Mag Top 100.
