I have just finished my first in depth listen of Rezz's debut album and to say that I am blown away would be an understatement. I had a good idea from the singles which were released leading up to the debut of ‘Mass Manipulation' that we were in for a treat, but to hear Rezz's freshman effort in it's entirety has given me an appreciation beyond what I could have imagined.
A Unique and Powerful Sound
Rezz is one of the youngest artists signed to Mau5trap at the moment. At only 22 Rezz has developed one of the most powerful sounds in modern day electronic music in just a few years. The announcement of her debut album sent shock waves through the dance music community as her loyal fans rejoiced in frenzied excitement. Then came the singles. All four that were released received perfect 5 star ratings from us.
‘Mass Manipulation' Pushes Electronic Music To It's Breaking Point
Having finally heard the album in it's entirely I am floored. While I had heard half of the album already, the latter half of ‘Mass Manipulation' was entirely new, and some of the most impressive productions can be found there. ‘Green Gusher' in particular is a track which will leave you breathless. It is a pounding techno and bass infused hit. Smashing bass claps in a tech house arrangement will fill your soul with excitement and power.
The following track, ‘Synesthesia' is another perfect example of the outside the box sound design which has pushed Rezz to the top of the game. The amount of different elements present in this song are just to great to count. It is gorgeous, dark, fascinating and perfect. All in all ‘Mass Manipulation' has pushed electronic music forward, breaking the molds of what is expected and created a new standard in dance music. Easily one of the most impressive albums we have heard to date. A perfect 5 star.
