Slushii has just released his debut album, ‘Out Of Light'. The news of his freshman album came suddenly, amid news of an emergency appendectomy. The shock and scare of Slushii's emergency surgery abroad almost drowned out the news that his first LP was right around the corner. Now being able to hear the massive album in it's entirety, it gives us an in depth look at who Slushii is on a personal level.
Slushii recorded his own vocals on all 13 tracks included on ‘Out Of Light'. This personal touch is something we have not seen since the freshman and sophomore efforts of Calvin Harris. Each track on ‘Out Of Light' is entrenched with Slushii's signature upbeat, innovative style. While this is where the album shines, in a way it is also where it falls short.
Thirteen tracks makes for a massive album. So naturally a few select tracks were going to be less impressive than others. While it was noted that Slushii used his unique style in each and every track, some songs seem to play like repeats of previous productions. That being said this in no way takes away from the message that ‘Out Of Light' projects at its core – to be yourself no matter what. Slushii is a beautiful success story of when you entirely accept who you are and embrace it, amazing things will happen. Take a listen to the full album below.
