Dan O’Donnell aka D.O.D has cornered the market when it comes to UK influenced
jacking house/bass/electro, coining his sound “Future Jack”, with releases
on all the prime dance labels including Axtone, Size, Spinnin, Doorn and
Wall. 2017 has been a huge year already for D.O.D with his track ‘Sixes’
being the most played track this year at WMC, not to mention already
clocking up over 4 million streams online. Add that to a recent collab with
Dutch legend Fedde Le Grand and a whole host game changing records,
it’s safe to say Dan is owning the market. Expect to see a string of
more #FutureJack club records including his latest smash “Ghetto”.
Check out the exclusive guest mix and very cool interview we did with D.O.D below and make sure to keep up with the #FutureJack movement!

INTERVIEW
Where did the name D.O.D come from?
D.O.D is just the initials of my real name – Dan O’Donnell. Pretty simple real,
no fun story behind it unfortunately!
Your new song “Ghetto” is out now on Wall Recordings, what went
into making this track? It's extremely unique.
Thank you! I always push myself to make the most original music possible. I
discovered the vocal and instantly knew it would work in a Future Jack track.
The whole track is based around the vocal, whilst the background elements
are the synths that drive the track. Team that with some jackin’ drums and
you have a real original track. I’m super happy with the end result.
Your song “Sixes” was the festival track of the summer. When
making the track, did you feel that the song was going to explode as
much as it did?
I didn’t have a clue it would become as big as it has done. I make a lot of
music and I just presumed that it would be another track that would work
well in my sets. I knew something big was going to happen when Axwell
signed it straight away. A few days later he played it in a set with Ingrosso
and the rest is history.
What artists are you listening to right now?
I don’t really tend to listen to dance music in my spare time. I’m travelling a
lot now so I like to listen to music that relaxes me, something to make the
travelling a little easier. I’m listening to a lot of Tom Misch at the minute,
he’s a dude from London who makes some incredible music.
What would be one piece of advice giving someone trying to get their
music heard?
Be as original as possible! Labels want to hear something fresh, something
they’ve never heard before. Don’t follow trends, create your own trend.
What are some things you like to do besides making music?
I love going to the Lake District in the UK. It’s only 40 minutes away from
my house. It’s one of the most beautiful places on earth!
Favorite Home Cooked Meal?
A proper British Sunday Roast. It’s a traditional thing here to have on a
Sunday…hence the name. It’s usual ingredients are: Roast
beef/chicken/lamb/pork, roast potatoes, mash, broccoli, carrots, Yorkshire
pudding, peas, all covered in a thick gravy! Delicious.
Favorite Junk Food?
I’m not a huge fan of junk food to be honest as it never makes you feel great
afterwards. If I had to choose one it would be KFC.
