A lone gunman released a rapid-fire barrage of bullets on an outdoor country music festival in Las Vegas Sunday night. Thousands of country music fans became sitting ducks to one of the deadliest mass shooting in the history of the United States. More than 50 people were killed Sunday night when a gunman fired hundreds of bullets into the Las Vegas strip crowd, according to police.
In addition, 406 people have been rushed to the hospital following the mass shooting.
One witness told MSNBC “we heard what sounded like firecrackers going off. Then all of a sudden we heard what sounded like a machine gun. People started screaming that they were hit… When we started running out, there were probably a couple hundred on the ground.
The 64-year-old Stephen Paddock, unleashed hundreds of bullets from the 32nd floor of the Mandalay Bay hotel. Paddock killed himself before police entered the hotel room he was firing from. Police said they had no information of Paddock's motive and no criminal record.
6:10am Update: The brother of the gunman said he is dumbfounded by the actions.
5:35am Update: A total of 406 people were transported to area hospitals. An off-duty LVMPD was killed during the shooting.
