Paris Hilton is honestly the bane of all of EDM's existence. The star of ‘The Simple Life' and ‘One Night In Paris' has continually given the landscape of electronic music a bad reputation. Her involvement has only reinforced stereotypes that DJing and producing is so easy that anyone can do it if they one day decide they want to be a JD. Unfortunately her celebrity status has helped her gain a residency at Amnesia as well as consistently rank at the top of the highest paid female DJ list. Obviously this amounts to not much more than a glorified appearance fee. Her existence undermines thousands of artists who work tirelessly for recognition and a fair booking fee.
The Cringe Continues
Well is seems in the final quarter of 2017 Paris is doubling down on this joke that has gone on too long. Paris sat down with TIME magazine, which I at one point respected as a publication, and spoke at length about her DJ endeavors. In between awkward stories of an ultra opulent childhood and a handful of bizarre examples of why she isn't a brat, Paris dropped one tragic detail.
She is working on her second studio album. She described her new album as “Deep House, Techno-Pop”. See here is the issue with that statement. Pop music is short for, and try to follow me here – popular music. As in main stream music which finds commercial success. See on the exact other end of the spectrum are genres like Deep House and Techno also known as underground, or the exact opposite of Pop music. So yeah…we are not sure what she meant by that but we are already positive it will be awful.
