Dave 1 and P-Thugg, better known as the Canadian funk brothers Chromeo, shared the trailer for their upcoming 5th studio album ‘Head Over Heels' last week. Today they give us a taste of their next musical odyssey with the release of their first song and video in over three years: “Juice”.
The tune captures Chromeo's trademark cheeky lyrics and soulful vocals on top of a bass-heavy, synth-laden California bop. This is one of the catchiest tracks of the year. ‘You got the juiceeee, that's why I keep pressin' ya pressin' ya!' is the hook, and it hasn't gotten out of my head since I've listened to this song this morning.
The video, shot by Grammy-nominated director David Wilson, showcases the Funklordz in a whole new light, blurring the line between muse and artist and seeing their iconic leg imagery come full circle. With their usual, unassuming ease, they push the artistic envelope and leave fans thirsty for more.
