As a more personal lead, a friend and I were discussing Jai Wolf's productions today and the difficulties that come with remixing his music. Our conclusion: it isn't easy.
For example, “Indian Summer” does not need to be remixed, it is a complete track. Why remix perfection? A remix will likely only lead to taking away from the original's beauty… but as we listened to the Kindred Spirits Remixes and our discussion continued, we would ultimately eat our own words.
The remix EP in its entirety — front to back, all eight tracks — is amazing.
Kasbo's remix of “Indian Summer” introduces the Kindred Spirits Remixes beautifully. Robotaki's remix of “Gravity” blends his production style with Jai Wolf perfectly. And a surprise personal favorite for me, VIRTU's remix of “The World Is Ours” has an M83 or Porter-esque sound that I absolutely love.
They're all amazing, however, so listen to all of the Kindred Spirits Remixes below!
