As if Kaskade wasn’t generous enough this holiday season with the release of his Christmas album, he has recently done an extraordinary deed. Kaskade recently started a Kickstarter project to help fund Project Favela, an “organization that uses education as a tool in hopes of creating opportunities that could change the lives of others within the communities of Rio de Janeiro”. Project Favela offers Drama, Music, Civics and STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art & Mathematics) to nearly 60 kids daily. The best part is that this is all offered to the children for free! They also offer a girl empowerment program and adult English classes in the evenings.
The school is currently under threat of closing due to cartel violence in Brazil. According to the Kickstarter page, “Until now, Project Favela has never had to solicit help directly. On September 19th a fragile peace was broken by a cartel war. The school is riddled with bullet holes and the violence has turned the volunteer recruiting upside down and dried up their revenue streams.”
