After being nominated at the Grammy's for Best Pop Duo and Group performance for his single “Stay” featuring Alessia Cara, Zedd is preparing for some major announcements for the 2018 year.
During a new interview with Variety, Zedd talks about his collaboration on “Stay” as well as news about new albums.
Zedd Opens Up About Working With Alessia Cara
After recording her vocals, Zedd worked on the mix until sharing a semi-final version with her. “She was like, ‘Are you not planning on putting anything in the chorus?'” he recalls with a laugh. “I was hoping that everybody would feel the same way, that it was bold.”
Zedd Opens Up About Future Albums
Zedd says that 2018 will be “one of the most exciting” years for him stating that a new album with several first single contenders are in the works. “They’re these long chord progressions that I’ve been writing that I don’t even know how to put into electronic music yet,” he says. “Maybe I’m just going to go the opposite route and write a score — or make it orchestral, and use them for something else or somebody else. The most important part as an artist is to always follow exactly what you want to do, and never follow what people want you to do.”
