The 10 Best Songs of 2017

As 2017 is officially over and we're already well into 2018, it's time to reflect on the songs that gave us hope this past year. Despite all of the political nonsense from the past couple of years, dance music continued to shine bright amongst all of the negativity in the media. From Illenium's sophomore album to ODESZA's sophomore album, there were plenty of hit new singles being released.

With more than 20,000 votes on this year's Dance Music Awards, we're pleased to announce the most popular songs of 2017 amongst our readers.

10. ODESZA – Line Of Sight feat. WYNNE & Mansionair

In anticipation of releasing their sophomore album, ODESZA released “Line of Sight” just before officially releasing their hit new album ‘A Moment Apart.' Much like the prior album ODESZA continues to shine with their mix of live instruments, vocals, and pure electronica sound.

9. Avicii – Without You feat. Sandro Cavazza

After taking quite the hiatus from dance music, Avicii returned in 2017 with his new EP titled ‘AVĪCI,' which featured his hit single “Without You” featuring Sandro Cavazza.

8. Skrillex & Poo Bear – Would You Ever

In mid-2017, Skrillex released his new single “Would You Ever” with Justin Bieber's songwriter, Poo Bear. Despite the deep house release getting quite a bit of attention for its uplifting vibe, Milan Somerville aka the Hairy Longboarder took center stage for a musical therapy session on wheels for the official music video.

7. Axwell /\ Ingrosso – More Than You Know

On May 27th, Axwell /\ Ingrosoo released “More Than You Know” featuring the uncredited vocals from Kristoffer Fogelmark. Leading up to the release, both Axwell and Ingrosso played minimal amounts of shows gearing up for their official ‘More Than You Know' EP release.

6. Dirtyphonics x RIOT – Got Your Love

On July 14th, Monstercat released the summer festival anthem by Dirtyphonics and RIOT. The song become a hit with its dubstep drops and incredible vocals.

5. Marshmello ft. Khalid – Silence

When Marshmello and Khalid announced their plans to collaborate, everyone knew there was a hit in the process. Upon releasing “Silence” on August 11th, the song quickly went viral for its dance/pop nature.

4. W&W x Vini Vici – Chakra

W&W and the psy-trance Vini Vici teamed up to release “Chakra” back in mid-September. The colossal release was a true blend of big room house and psytrance.

3. Bad Computer – New Dawn

Quite possibly one of the best releases from Monstercat in 2017 was none other than Bad Computer's “New Dawn.” The progressive house sounds similar to other Zonderling releases and is one of the best songs from 2017.

2. Martin Garrix & Dua Lipa – Scared To Be Lonely

Martin Garrix and Dua Lipa's “Scared To Be Lonely” was released on January 27, 2017 and was an instant hit. With remixes from DubVision, Zonderling, Alpharock, Funkin Matt, Brooks, Gigamesh, Medasin, Loud Luxury, Conro, LOOPERS, and Joe Mason, Martin Garrix and Dua Lipa really made a statement with this release.

1. Illenium – Crawl Outta Love

Illenium and Annika Wells officially released “Crawl Outta Love” via Seeking Blue and Kasaya Records on August 7th. The future bass and melodic bass was just the tip of the iceberg to all of the great new releases on Illenium's sophomore album Awake. The song has been described as “deep, earth-shattering with piano melodies.”
