With Super Bowl 52 only a couple of weeks away, fans in the Minneapolis/St. Paul area have been keeping an eye out for huge concert announcements to hit the area during game weekend. Some time ago, it was announced that a temporary venue was being built in order to host one of these weekend events. Club Nomadic was set to host The Chainsmokers, Gwen Stefani, Florida Georgia Line, and Ellie Goulding & Kygo. In the past week, however, news spread that the venue wouldn’t be opening. Fans questioned what would happen to their tickets and the concerts themselves.
Mystic Lake Casino, which owns the grounds that Club Nomadic would be set on, announced that the concerts will now be housed inside the casino. There was also an announcement that ticket prices had dropped; possibly a hint that low ticket sales may have caused the cancellation. What started around $200 are now starting at $59. Anyone who had purchased a ticket at the original price now has the option to can keep their tickets for a premium general admission experience which includes best access to the stage or they can receive a full refund. A final announcement was a rather unfortunate one, Ellie Goulding will no longer be performing, leaving Kygo with the stage to himself that night.
