Today at 4:30 am this morning, a brush fire began only six miles away from Coachella Music Festival. Although the fire has not interfered with the festival's structures, the fire has consumed about 15 acres of land and is expected to reach 50 acres of land by the end of the day.
It has been determined that the brush fire would not interfere with the festival itself, so festival-goers have nothing to worry about during their final day of weekend one of Coachella. It is suspected that the fire began due to human causes. The California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection are still investigating as to how the fire exactly began. Strong winds have been occurring in the area, so it has been difficult for firefighters to contain the blaze. Winds are expected to be strong throughout the day until Monday morning. California residents have been asked to avoid the area until the fire has been under control.
