Illenium's hit single, ‘Crawl Outta Love' was a fan favorite immediately upon its release. It showcased the producer's innate ability to inject incredible emotion into his tracks without diminishing their overall impact. While there was no doubt that fans and critics alike fell in love with the song, it just found an even higher honor than mainstream approval.

The ISC is recognized as one of the highest honors in the world for musicians. In 2017 the competition received over 16,000 entries from 140 countries. Judges for the competition span across all musical genres and include Lorde, Hardwell, Tom Waits, Nancy Wilson (Heart), Ziggy Marley, Bastille, Kaskade, The Mavericks, Martie Maguire (Dixie Chicks), and many more.
Illenium was awarded the $25,000 prize alongside the co-authors of the song Annika Wells, Kate Morgan, and Michael Biancaniello.
