A small jet, reportedly carrying rapper Post Malone, has been circling the greater New York City-area for four hours after two of its tires blew during takeoff on Tuesday.
While the plane was on route to London Luton Airport in Luton, England, the flight was re-routed as the jet experienced trouble with takeoff. The jet carrying 16 people took off from Teterboro Airport just before 11am when the pilot reported trouble.
The pilot was going to make an initial attempt to land back at the Teterboro airport as officials prepared for the landing by lining up a runway with fire trucks and ambulances. The aircraft has a reported 3,700 gallons of fuel to burn and has continued to circle in order to make a safer emergency landing. It's still unclear when the emergency landing will take place.
The aircraft has left the hold and is now on an extended final approach for SWF. This is a typical approach for SWF arrivals.
Events like this are routine, even if it is uncommon for an aircraft this size to blow 2 tires simultaneously. pic.twitter.com/dZBMAurESp

The Gulfstream G-IV with blown tires continuing to circle, reducing fuel weight prior to landing. Per @TMZ Post Malone is reportedly on board this aircraft.

This is definitely possible. Heading to Luton, it would have been loaded with fuel for a 6+ hour flight. With no fuel dump ability, the options are to burn fuel for several hours or land very overweight. Needless to say, burning as much as possible is best. #PostMalone https://t.co/K2QpK1M7de

To reiterate, blown tires are not uncommon and this is a routine emergency procedure for the flight crew. The passengers will most likely be fine with a good story to tell. https://t.co/WliEIRyBU0

Absolutely. It won’t be a smooth landing, but they can make a safe landing. The long runway is a benefit here. #PostMalone https://t.co/nunSckoffG
