Our thanks to the bright talent that is Krischvn this week for joining us with his Musical Guilty Pleasures. He has recently released his Plumbum EP and it has brought a whole new level of creativity to the future bass and trap scene. Be sure to take a listen through his favourite track choices below.
1) Point Point – “All This”
I’m choosing this track because it’s my all-time favourite. It inspires me every time I listen to it and I think the idea of it is 1000% perfectly made. This structure of the track is so good. It also the first track I ever seen being played live when I went to see San Holo live. It was a moment of pure inspiration and the song made me decide to take music seriously. Thank you Point Point and San Holo!
2) Oolacile – “Stomp”
This track is next-level bass music. I love the mastering and how the whole track pushes the sound to a new level. The play with huge basses and kicks and snares from Oolacile are just so fun to hear. It makes you think out of the normal way and gets you in a specific vibe that I cannot put into words. These futuristic bass sounds are so delicious and listening to it is enjoyable.
3) San Holo – “Victory”
I choose this track because it has a vibe that’s really rare. The feelings in it spread in to your head while listening – it's huge! It’s like the track pulls you out of the planet earth for 4:01. In the beginning, it will take you out but considerately and carefully. These main parts are art on a new level and gives you a happy feeling while listening. All these background sounds and ambience are nostalgic and I am so glad to have this track to listen to.
4) Smino – “Ballet”
I choose this track cause the flow of Smino is insane. It is a perfect balance, and the beat is delicious. It is very interesting to pay attention to all background instruments and noises you can hear, while trying figure out what is going on – even after listening to it for the third time around. That makes the whole song even more interesting.
5) Sabre – “Gun Girls/Clip”
I cannot stop listening to this piece of godliness. This is some low-key heat. The dark chords and melodic background sounds bring you into the big track build. The basses and drums are perfectly made together. I don’t know where the Japanese sample is from and what it means but it sounds cool on the track. These heavy psychedelic alien machine sounds is in a perfect rhythm and the whole song is just huge!
